Wooster Golfers Close Fall Season in 10th at Denison Classic
The College of Wooster golf team closed its three-tournament fall season with a 10th-place finish at the Denison University Fall Classic (Oct. 7-8), which featured a highly-competitive field playing at the par-71, 6559-yard Granville Golf Course in Granville, Ohio. Three of Wooster’s four individual scores on Saturday were in the 70s, as the Fighting Scots’ 315 put them just 12 strokes back of second-place. However, a 324 Sunday, in which Wooster counted three rounds in the 80s, turned into a 639 total, marking its lowest finish of the fall. Otterbein College won the event in 591, behind medalist Andy Miller (72-73), while the runner-up was Wittenberg University (605). For the Scots, Andy Van Horn led the way with a 79 and a 77, good for a tie for 20th-place in the individual standings (156). Two strokes back was teammate Erik Shoger, tying for 30th (78-80), while also scoring both days for Wooster was freshman Tim Sullivan, who shot 81-82 to tie for 48th in his collegiate debut. Additionally, Sean Glaser carded a squad-low 77 Saturday, but followed up with a 90 to finish alone in 60th, and Patrick Lynch scored on Sunday for the Scots while tying for 62nd overall (84-85). |
