A furious second-half rally by the College of Wooster men's lacrosse team fell short on March 20, as the Scots dropped a 12-8 decision to Roger Williams in Tampa, Fla.
Wooster got off to a poor start, being outscored 5-1 by the Hawks in the first period. The next 15 minutes was more of the same with Roger Williams' scoring four goals to the Scots' one and taking a 9-2 lead into halftime.
Wooster's young team put a run together in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 4-2 to cut the lead to five. The Scots punched in two more goals in the fourth, but could not muster any more offense.
Offensively, Wooster used a balanced attack with five players scoring goals. Sophomores Ryan McNally and Adam Price and freshman Colin Hartnett recorded two scores apiece, while sophomore Kyle Plumly and freshman Ahren Olson contributed one goal each. Olson also registered an assist.
Scot junior John Park put together a solid game in net, making 20 saves, while playing all 60 minutes.
Wooster, which is 1-2 on the young season, will open North Coast Athletic Conference-play with a game at Wittenberg on March 22, at 7:30 p.m.
