Kenyon Clamps Down Wooster 25-9 in Men's Lacrosse
After taking early leads of 1-0 and 2-1, The College of Wooster
men's lacrosse team fell victim to a 10-goal run by Kenyon College and the
hosts went on to win going away by a final count of 25-9 at McBride Field
on Saturday afternoon (March 31).
The game marked the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for
Wooster, which fell to 0-5, while Kenyon improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in
the conference.
Scoring two goals apiece in the loss were freshmen Hugh Benson,
Robert Koehler, and Mike MacMaster. Sophomore Ahren Olson as well as
freshmen Steve Burton and Andrew Fletcher tallied one score each, while
freshman Tom Canfield recorded the visitors' lone assist of the day.
The Lords, who were a nationally-ranked team last season, were led
by sophomores Julian Quasha and Justin Hamilton. Quasha registered seven
points on four goals and three assists, while Hamilton scored four goals.
In net, senior Jason Park managed to come up with 19 saves for the
Scots, while senior Greg Clancy, sophomore Andrew Farrell, and sophomore
Ivan Watkins combined for 13 saves to secure the win.
Wooster will try and get on the winning track this Wednesday (April
4), when it plays another NCAC contest, this time at Oberlin College,
starting at 4:30 p.m.
