Kenyon Downs Scots 16-9 in Men's Lax Action

Box Score

The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team fell behind early in its North Coast Athletic Conference match-up with Kenyon College on Wednesday (April 24) in Gambier, Ohio, but made a valiant comeback before eventually settling for a 16-9 setback.

Kenyon (9-2, 3-1 NCAC) led 5-3 after one quarter and exploded for four-straight scores to open a commanding six-goal advantage midway through the second period.

Wooster (5-4, 1-2 NCAC), though, would not roll over, as the Scots pulled within 11-5 at the break and scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter to make it a 12-8 game.

However, that would be as close as it would get. The Lords tallied the final goal of the third and then outscored Wooster by a 3-1 margin during the final 15 minutes.

The Scots' balanced offensive attack was led by senior Adam Price, who scored twice and assisted on two other goals. Freshman Greg Wilcox had two goals as well, while sophomore Tom Canfield buried one in the back of the net once and passed out two assists. Rounding out Wooster's multiple-point scorers were sophomore Steve Burton and senior Brandon Mohr, each with one goal and one assist.

Andrew DeBord continued to gain experience in the net for the Scots, as the rookie stopped eight shots.

Leading the way for Kenyon were Mike Glancy with two goals and four assists, Justin Martinich's three-goal, one-assist effort, and Dave Nieman, who got the win with 13 saves.

Wooster will look to bounce back at Wittenberg University (4-9, 1-3 NCAC) on Saturday (April 27) with the opening face-off slated for 1 p.m.
