The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team is off to a 3-1 start for the first time since 1991, following Wooster's 20-0 shutout of visiting Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon (April 3). For the Scots, who are outscoring their opponents 65-14 under first-year head coach Jason Tarnow, it marked their third shutout in school history and first since downing Ball State University 26-0 way back in 1975. Wooster dominated throughout, outshooting Oberlin 64-5 and lighting up the scoreboard six times in the first quarter, five times in the second, and nine more times in the second half, while Andrew DeBord only needed to make one save in goal to preserve the Scot shutout. Offensively, Greg Wilcox led the way with five goals, while Colin Hartnett, Mike MacMaster, Brandon Mohr, and Adam Price each recorded a hat trick. MacMaster also dished out two assists for a five-point day, while Bobby Koehler's was the team's other multiple-point scorer (one goal, one assist). The Scots will try and continue their winning ways on Saturday night (April 6), when they return to non-conference action at Wheeling Jesuit University (3-5). Opening face-off is slated for 7 p.m. | ||
