The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team continued to show improvements on Tuesday (April 9), this time in a 15-7 setback at 18th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University in North Coast Athletic Conference action. Wooster (3-3, 1-1 NCAC), which lost 23-7 and 28-0 to Ohio Wesleyan the last two years, hung tough with the Battling Bishops during the first half. The Scots cut the deficit to just 4-3 with 5:56 remaining before Ohio Wesleyan struck twice in the final minutes and took a two-goal advantage into the break (6-4). The Bishops (4-4, 2-1 NCAC) came out hot in the second stanza, though, scoring three-straight in the first four minutes and winning the third quarter 8-1 before en route to the eight-goal decision. Wooster displayed its balanced offensive attack with six players scoring goals led by sophomore Bobby Koehler's pair. Also registering multiple points was sophomore Tom Canfield, who had one goal and one assist. In goal, Scot freshman Andrew DeBord produced a season-high 19 saves before being pulled in the final minute. Wooster will host Wittenberg University (4-3) in a non-league tilt this Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. |
