Scots Open 2008 by Besting Hendrix 22-1
The College of Wooster men’s lacrosse team got off to a hot start to its 2008 campaign, downing Hendrix College by a 22-1 count in a non-conference match played at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. The Fighting Scots begin their campaign with their third-straight season-opening victory, while the Warriors slip to 0-2 in their inaugural season.
Wooster lit up the scoreboard early and often, as the hosts jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. The lead continued to grow into the halftime intermission, as the Scots led by a 13-1 score, and then it was 19-1 after three periods.
Mark Weschler and Matt Pullara paced the Wooster offensive effort with five and four points, as Weschler tallied five goals and Pullara tacked on four. Tim Lee also contributed a hat trick with three scores, and six other Wooster players found the scoring column.
Wooster dominated nearly every facet of the contest, in terms of face-offs (22-of-24), shots (52-1), and groundballs (47-4).
The Scots continue their non-conference slate at the College of Mount St. Joseph (1-0) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
