Scots Improve to 5-0 in Easy Fashion
The College of Wooster men’s lacrosse team moved to 5-0 overall in convincing fashion, downing Neumann College 20-3 in a non-conference match up in Aston, Pa. The Fighting Scots remain perfect and have outscored their opponents by a combined 67-17 count, while the Knights fall to 0-6.
With the victory, the Fighting Scots’ give seventh-year head coach Jason Tarnow his 50th career win (50-35, .588). Tarnow sits only behind Art Marangi's 60 career wins while at the helm for Wooster from 1977-86.
Wooster started out on a hot streak, outscoring Neumann 6-0 in the first period and 4-0 in the second stanza, holding the hosts to just six shots through 30 minutes, while the Scots racked up 24 attempts of their own. The lead continued to grow, as Wooster held its biggest lead (18-0) with 10:45 left in the game and sailed to the easy victory.
Freshman Mike Duffy paced the offensive effort with four points, tallying a game-high four goals. Junior Chris Gatsch helped the Wooster offense contributing three scores.
Junior Mark Weschler, seniors Conor Hannan and Cole Simmons, and sophomores Pat Coyne and Alex Mies each netted a pair of goals, while three other Scots netted goals.
The Scots continue their non-conference slate at Washington & Lee University (3-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
