Wooster Men's Soccer Ties Again

The College of Wooster men's soccer team battled Case Western Reserve to a 2-2 tie yesterday afternoon in Cleveland. It was the second consecutive Fighting Scot match in which the final score ended in a tie.

Case Western Reserve put the first goal on the board, but Wooster sophomore Josh Bammel answered with his fifth goal of the season to tie the match at one. With 35 minutes remaining in the second half, Bammel took a 30-yard pass from junior defender Adam Evans. Bammel then made a sharp cut, beating a Spartan defender, and fired the ball above the outstretched hands of the Case Western Reserve goalie for the score.

The Spartans answered Bammel's score with a goal of their own, but the Scots once again responded. With 18 minutes remaining in regulation, freshman Kurtis Dilyard clipped a ball over the defense to Evans. At the 18-yard marker, Evans unleashed a shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the season, tying the match at two.

Both squads had few offensive opportunities in overtime. Wooster's aggressive offense, which produced 10 shots in the match, was whistled for several offsides calls, thus minimizing its scoring chances.
