Wooster Ties Hiram in First NCAC Contest

The College of Wooster men's soccer team came back from a season-opening loss to beat Baldwin-Wallace 3-1 yesterday afternoon in Berea, Ohio.

After trouncing Baldwin Wallace 3-1 in their last game, the Fighting Scot men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 against the newest North Coast Athletic Conference member, Hiram.

The first half belonged to the Terriers as they continuously advanced on the Scot defense. Twenty minutes into the match, Kyle Fetgatter scored the Terriers first goal on a rebound shot. Hiram continued to maintain its attack and scored again with seven minutes left in the first half when Brian Babb deflected the ball into the net off a corner kick.

The Scots came into the second half with a vengeance. At the 25:22 mark, sophomore transfer Josh Bammel scored Wooster's first goal on a penalty kick, which had been awarded for a foul in the box. Wooster's second goal came just four minutes later when junior Adam Evans made a beautiful crossing pass from the left side to Bammel, who hammered it past the Hiram goalie.

Each team had chances to score in the two overtimes, but neither squad could convert on its opportunities.
