Men's Soccer Loses To Muskies 2-1

Box Score

For the second year in a row, Muskingum College defeated The College of Wooster by the score of 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action. Last season, the Muskies needed overtime, but a pair of goals by senior Josh Boyer gave them the win in regulation on Wednesday (Sept. 27).

Boyer's first goal came when he intercepted a Wooster pass that was intended for senior goalie Adam Wegner and knocked it into the back of the net in the match's 20th minute.

It remained 1-0 until senior Adam Evans evened the score 10 minutes into the second half after taking a long pass from sophomore Ryan McManus, who was credited with the assist, and converting on one of his five shots on the afternoon.

However, Muskingum struck right back on Boyer's second goal, which came with 25 minutes remaining in regulation. He was assisted by classmate Jason Adams on the play.

In goal, Wegner had seven saves, while senior Steve Crawford made 13 saves for the Muskies.

The Scots, who after winning their first four games to start the season have gone 1-3-2 since, have a week to prepare for their next match, a home contest against Case Western Reserve on Tuesday, Oct. 3, starting at 4 p.m.
