Men's Soccer Keeps On Rolling With 3-0 Win
The College of Wooster men's soccer team's hot streak continued on Saturday (Sept. 22), as it improved to 6-1-0 overall in winning its North Coast Athletic Conference opener 3-0 over the visiting Hiram College Terriers on "Homecoming".
After a scoreless opening half, Wooster wore down the Terriers and found the back of the net three times, starting with freshman Brian Goche's unassisted goal in the 49th minute. The Scots extended their lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute on freshman D.J. Snell's unassisted score, and rounded out the scoring about five minutes later when senior Dan Kelly blasted a penalty kick into the net.
With the help of his defensive backfield led by senior Richard Albeit, sophomore David Workman continued his solid play in goal for Wooster. The league leader in goals against average played the first 85 minutes of the match and stopped 10 balls off the foots of Hiram players.
On the other side of the field, Joe Vari made eight saves on the afternoon for the Terriers.
The Scots hope to continue their winning ways on Tuesday (Sept. 25), when they welcome Muskingum College to the friendly confines of Carl Dale Memorial Field at 4:30 p.m.
