Not only did the Wabash College football team celebrate a win over The College of Wooster on its "Homecoming" weekend, but its soccer squad earned a 3-2 victory against the visiting Scots on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 6) in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Wooster, which outshot and outcornered Wabash 15-7 and 11-3, respectively, got off on the wrong foot, as the hosts jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening half. In fact, the Little Giants scored in the match's second minute on a goal by Carlos Aguiree, assisted by Tom Reifenberg. Aguiree converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute, and then Adam Reisig tacked on an unassisted score right before halftime in the 40th minute.

The Scots fought back, though, pulling within one late in the second stanza on goals by seniors Dan Kelly and Doug Dahnke in the 81st and 82nd minutes, respectively. It marked Kelly's ninth tally of the season, while for Dahnke it was his first goal in 2001. Dahnke was assisted on the play by freshman starter Gerritt Ockers, marking his first collegiate point.

In goal, sophomore David Workman came up with four saves in the loss, while Graham Bailey preserved the win with five saves.

Wooster, now 8-3 overall but just 1-2 in NCAC play, will try and rebound against perennial power Ohio Wesleyan University (7-5, 3-0 NCAC) on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at 7:30 p.m.
