With Wednesday afternoon's (Sept. 18) 1-0 shutout of visiting Case Western Reserve University, The College of Wooster men's soccer team has put together its third double-digit unbeaten streak in school history.

Wooster, 7-0-1 in 2002, has now gone 10 matches without a loss, including two wins to close out last season. The Scots' other double-digit unbeaten streaks came in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

A score in the ninth minute by senior Adam Zimmerman stood up on Wednesday. Sophomore Brian Goche corralled a loose ball in the goal box, touched it to Zimmerman, who placed it in the top left corner of the goal. It was Zimmerman's third career goal and first this fall, while Goche picked up his second assist and sixth overall point.

Case Western Reserve never really threatened to tie, as it was down two starters due to red cards - one in the 50th minute and one in the 90th minute - and only got off two shots during the match.

First-year netminder David Treleven made one save en route to his third-straight shutout, while the Spartans' John Cheveney prevented six Wooster shots from going in.

The Scots take their winning ways on the road this Saturday (Sept. 21), as they travel to Allegheny College (4-1) for a 1 p.m. match. It will mark the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
