The College of Wooster had a late lead in regulation on Saturday night (Sept. 6), but had to settle for a 1-1 tie, as Mt. Union College evened the non-league men’s soccer match-up with 5:47 remaining and the two teams went scoreless in overtime at Alliance, Ohio.

Following a defensive struggle in the opening half, junior forward Adam Milligan gave the Scots a 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season just 6:46 into the second. Just as it looked like Wooster was going to wrap up its third victory of the year, Mt. Union’s Matt Bednar knotted things up on a pass from Scott Gill.

Scoring opportunities were few and far between, as the squads combined for just 14 shots during 110 minutes of action. Each goalie, Mt. Union’s Mike Corum and Wooster’s David Treleven, produced three saves on the night.

Next, the Scots, who now own a 24-match unbeaten streak in the regular season, will play their home opener and their fourth-straight Ohio Athletic Conference foe, welcoming John Carroll University (3-0) to Carl Dale Memorial Field on Tuesday (Sept. 9) at 4:30 p.m.
