Scots Remain Undefeated in NCAC with 1-0 Win Over Kenyon
The College of Wooster men’s soccer team improved its league record to a perfect 4-0 by defeating Kenyon College 1-0 on the road Saturday afternoon (Oct. 9). The Scots move to 9-1-0 overall, while the struggling Lords fall to 1-12 and 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. For just the second time this year Wooster was outshot by its opponent, as Kenyon registered 10 attempts to the Scots’ eight. However, behind reigning NCAC Player-of-the-Week David Treleven, Wooster’s defense kept the Lords from getting on the board. Treleven, who has not given up a goal in 373:13 minutes, tallied five saves on the day as the junior earned his fourth consecutive shutout. Kenyon kept the game close through 80 minutes of play, but Wooster’s go-to man of late, junior Brian Conaway, came through for his team-leading fifth game-winning goal of the year at 81:25. The score was Conaway’s sixth overall of the year, all of them coming in the last five matches. The Scots will try to extend their conference-best record next Saturday, Oct. 16, as they play host to Wabash College for a NCAC match-up with the Little Giants at 2 p.m. |
