Pair of Conaway Goals Lead to One Win, One Tie for Scots
OBERLIN, Ohio — Brian Conaway scored a goal in each of The College of Wooster's games this past weekend, leading the Scots to a 1-0 win over Defiance College and a 1-1 tie against Babson College at the season-opening Oberlin Tournament. In Saturday's match-up with Defiance, Wooster controlled most of the action, but it was still scoreless midway through the second half. Then, the Scots were awarded a free kick and Conaway took advantage, curling in a shot in the 73rd minute. Overall, Wooster outshot the Yellow Jackets 14-4 and Scot goalie David Treleven did not even need to make a save to preserve the shutout. Babson and Wooster played a very even match on Sunday. The Beavers struck first, as Derek Losi converted a breakaway in the 75th minute. The Scots knotted things up less than five minutes later, when Conaway blasted a one-timer from Andrew Etter into the back of the net. It marked Conaway's 33rd career goal. Treleven was credited with three saves in the tie. Wooster is next in action on Saturday at Otterbein College (1-0-1). |
