Tim Presto converted a penalty kick during the 73rd minute, providing the winning margin for The College of Wooster in its 2-1 victory over visiting Otterbein College Saturday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.

Wooster, now off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2001, took a 1-0 lead, behind Scott Buckwald’s first collegiate goal during the 23rd minute. The freshman forward was assisted by classmate Karl Ruter on the play, marking the latter’s third point of the season.

Otterbein, which suffered its first loss of the year (3-1), tied it in the 69th minute when Drew Pitzer found the back of the net on one of his four shots on the day. Just 3:45 later, though, the Scots were awarded a penalty kick and Presto delivered for his third career goal.

The Cardinals had several quality runs at the goal during the final 10 minutes, but Erik Larson and the Wooster defense stayed steady to preserve the win. Larson had five saves for the match, while Otterbein’s goalie, Jordan Guhl, made one.

The Scots look to continue their fast start this Tuesday when they host Marietta College (0-3) in the fourth of a season-opening five-match homestand. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
