The College of Wooster’s streak of seven consecutive victories in season openers came to an end Friday, as Lake Erie College got past the Fighting Scots 3-1 in non-conference men’s soccer action at Oberlin, Ohio.

It was a scoreless tie at the half. Then, Lake Erie’s offense came up with a spurt, finding the back of the net in the 57th and 66th minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Wooster, which traditionally is a second-half team, pulled back within one with a little over seven minutes remaining on a Trevor Day goal, assisted by Warren Swegal. It marked the sophomore midfielder’s first collegiate goal.

The Storm added a late score for the final margin.

Defensively, the Scots only allowed six shots and four corner kicks. Two goalies each played a half, with freshman Patryk Tenorio making two saves during the first.

Wooster’s young squad will look to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when it takes to the pitch against Heidelberg College (0-1), also at Oberlin.
