WOOSTER, Ohio - Despite being a man-down for over 86 minutes of the match Thursday, The College of Wooster men’s soccer team battled for its second win in as many games. The Fighting Scots took a 1-0 lead nearly midway through the second half of action, and made the lone goal stand up hanging on for the victory over Otterbein College.
The only score of the match came off the foot of Wooster (2-2) sophomore Josh Madson after he received a cross. Madson made the final touch in the lower left corner of the goal off a free kick from the right side from sophomore Chase Beach. The tally marked Madson’s first career goal and Beach’s first assist.
Otterbein (3-2) kept the pressure on through the final minutes, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
In goal for Wooster, freshman Jordan O’Boyle and Patryk Tenorio combined on the shutout. O’Boyle played the first half and collected two saves, while Tenorio finished the match and picked up the win tallying five stops.
The Scots will hit the road against John Carroll (3-3) on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on tape-delay by SportsTime Ohio, as the first airing will be Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m.
