The Scots were moved to the consolation bracket after losing to Wittenberg 4-2 in the opening round, but rebounded with an easy 4-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan in the afternoon session.
In the match against the Tigers, Wooster fell behind 1-0 by losing the doubles point despite a 9-8 win from junior Rob Ogg and sophomore Jake Sintich at number-one. Wittenberg went on to take first, fourth, and sixth singles in straight sets to clinch the match, while Scot sophomore Paul Wiley was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at number-three and classmate Jim Sayed was victorious 6-3, 6-3 at number-five.
Wooster's second match of the day saw the Scots take an early lead by claiming the doubles point with an 8-3 win from Ogg and Sintich in the top spot and an 8-5 win from junior Matt Bierlein and Sayed at number-two. Then, Wooster went up 2-0 on a forfeit in the sixth singles position and clinched the match with singles victories from freshmen Clint Bailey and Brandon Lichtman. Bailey easily defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-1 at number-four, while Lichtman shutout his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at number-five.
The Scots will play either Oberlin, which they defeated earlier in the year 7-0, or Wabash, which they lost to 4-3 in the season-opener, on Saturday.
Kenyon won each of its matches without dropping a point and will play the winner of the Allegheny-Denison match for the championship.
