Wooster Men's Tennis Defeats St. Lawrence
After three tightly-contested 4-3 matches to start the year,
Wooster's men's tennis team had a bit of an easier time, beating St.
Lawrence 5-2. The Scots won four of six singles matches and swept the
doubles competition to even their record to 2-2.
At the top of the lineup, Wooster junior Rob Ogg lost to Danny
Graham 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Jake Sintich had an easy time with the Saints'
Jay Cutter at second singles, winning by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Scot junior
Paul Wiley needed three sets to continue his perfect record this season, as
he beat Mike Beveurs 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at number-three.
St. Lawrence picked up a point at fourth singles with Chris Tyler
downing junior Matt Bierlein 6-4, 6-3. However, Wooster took the fifth and
sixth singles positions, as junior Nikhil Padivac posted a 6-4, 6-2
decision over Carson Roy 6-4, 6-2 at the fifth spot and freshman Clint
Bailey beat Aaron Cutter by the same score at number-six.
All three of the Scots' doubles teams won their respective matches
by a score of 8-5. Ogg and Wiley combined to beat Jay Cutter and Bevuers
at number-one doubles, Sintich teamed with freshman Brandon Lichtman to
take down Graham and Roy in the second position, and Bierlein and junior
Kirk Lapham beat Aaron Cutter and Tyler at number-three.
