Scots Run Over Ohio Wesleyan in 9-0 Whitewashing

The College of Wooster men’s tennis team remained perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference action following a 9-0 thrashing of Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at the Wooster Racquet Club.  With the win, the Fighting Scots improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play in the young season, while the Battling Bishops fall to 0-3, 0-1 NCAC.

The Scots swept through the doubles competition to begin the match 3-0, with the doubles teams of Sam Hickey and Ted Hickey (8-2) at No. 1, Grant D’Augustine and Pat Grab (8-1) at No. 2 and Brian Ebbitts and Dan Fleszar (8-1) all easily prevailing.

Wooster rolled through the singles matches as well, with No. 1 Will Morrison posting a 6-3, 6-0 decision, No. 2 Ebbitts winning 6-4, 6-0 and No. 3 Dave Albrechta pulling off  a 6-0, 6-0 blanking. The bottom half of the Scots’ singles lineup also swept in straight sets, with Ted Hickey at No. 4 (6-0, 6-3), Jeremy Dominik moving up to No. 5 (6-0, 6-1) and Chris Collen at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).

Wooster will be off until it begins its spring break trip in Hilton Head, S.C. with an 8 a.m. match against Roger Williams University, followed by a dual with Hobart College at noon.
