Drushal Wins Shot Put to Highlight Case Invite

The College of Wooster men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams finished seventh and 10th with 39 and 15 points, respectively, at this weekend’s (Feb. 4) Case Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio, which included several area schools. Baldwin-Wallace College took each of the team championships, as its men totaled 149 points and its women 207.5.

Rick Drushal was Wooster’s lone individual champion at the meet, as the sophomore’s toss of 46 feet, 4.75 inches in the shot put was the best in his 31-man field. Just three of the competitors went over the 46-foot mark.

The Scot men’s team had two runner-up showings with Matt Linman in the 3000 meters (9:09.02) and Tristan Jordan in the triple jump (40 feet, 4.25 inches), and one event in which they had two scorers as Colin Turner took fifth in the 800 meters (2:04.54) and Jonathan Prince followed in seventh (2:016.18).

Rounding out Wooster’s scoring were Rob Kelm placing seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (8.61) and Jordan finishing eighth in the long jump (19 feet, 2.75 inches).

Outside of the relays, the Scot women had three individual scorers, paced by Kate Legg’s fourth-place effort in the pole vault (7 feet, 11.5 inches). Nicole Calderone and Kathy McCreary each took eighth in their events – the 400 meters (1:06.30) and the 3000 meters (11:53.42).
