Sophomore Rick Drushal accounted for 12 of The College of Wooster men’s track and field team’s 16 points, as the Scots finished in 12th-place at the 15-team Emory Invitational, held Saturday in Atlanta, while the Wooster women came in 11th in their 12-team field.

Drushal’s best showing came in the shot put, in which he had a third-place mark of 47 feet, 0.25 inches, while he also came in fifth in the discus (132 feet, 1 inch) and re-established his own school record in the hammer throw during a seventh-place effort in that event (123 feet, five inches).

The Scots’ other scorers on the men’s side were hurdlers Rob Kelm and Matt Jensen, who took seventh (16.31) and eighth (16.41), respectively, in the 110-meter event, and freshman Tristan Jordan, who came in eighth in the triple jump (40 feet, 2 inches).

The Wooster women’s highlight came in the 5000 meters, as three team members scored. Sophomore Katie Wieferich was fourth (19:38.93), followed by sophomore Ashley Zervos and senior Erin Herl in sixth- (20:36.96) and eighth-place (20:39.42), respectively.

Sophomore high jump Dana Doran-Myers was the Scots’ highest overall finisher Saturday, as she cleared 4 feet, 11.75 inches to earn runner-up honors in her event.

Additionally, juniors Jill Berner and Kathy McCreary contributed a sixth-place performance in the pole vault (10 feet, six inches) and an eighth-place run in the 800 meters (2:30.32), respectively.

Next Saturday (April 2), the Scots will host their lone meet of the spring – the Wooster Invitational.
