Drushal, Jensen, Jordan Lead Wooster to Fifth-Place at NCAC's
Rick Drushal, Matt Jensen, and Tristan Jordan all earned individual recognition while leading The College of Wooster men’s track & field team to fifth-place at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, hosted this weekend (May 4-5) at Ohio Wesleyan University. Wooster’s 62.5 points was 3.5 more than Denison University to put the Fighting Scots in the top half of the 10-team field, while Allegheny College cruised to the championship (237.5) and Wabash College (135) edged Ohio Wesleyan (132) for second-place. Wittenberg University was fourth (91). Druhsal picked up the sixth and seventh all-conference (top-three) honors of his track career, throwing marks of 46 feet, 6.25 inches and 141 feet, 9 inches, which were good for third-place in both the shot put and discus competitions, respectively. Jensen highlighted a strong effort from Wooster’s hurdlers, as he crossed as the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles (15.74). Complementing him in that event were teammates Rob Kelm in fifth (16.54) and Dierre Taylor in seventh (18.64). Jensen and Kelm also scored in the 400 hurdles, placing seventh and eighth with respective times of 59.44 and 1:03.58. Tying Jensen for the Scots’ highest finish was Jordan, who was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 3.25 inches. Jordan also added a fifth-place in the triple jump (41 feet, 0.5 inches). Taylor Delhagen was a double-scorer, running his way to fifth-place in the 10,000 meters (32:51.62) and seventh-place in the 5000 meters (15:46.67), as was Averell Gatton, who tied for sixth overall in the high jump (5 feet, 9.25 inches) and notched eighth-place in the long jump (19 feet, 4.25 inches). Rounding out Wooster’s scorers were Colin Turner, who crossed the line sixth in the 1500 meters (4:07.06), and throwers Marco Garcia and Steve Zumbrun, who contributed seventh-place efforts in the discus (141 feet, 9 inches) and shot put (44 feet, 0.75 inches), respectively. |
