Scots' Track Teams Complete Busy Weekend

The College of Wooster track & field teams competed at a pair of meets this weekend. On Friday night, Wooster’s teams competed at the non-scoring Kenyon College Invitational, and then Saturday, a select group of Fighting Scots competed at the All-Ohio meet in Westerville.
Leading the way for the men at the All-Ohio meet was Steve Zumbrun, who finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 9 inches. Teammate Jon Mathis took sixth in the high jump competition (6 feet, 1.25 inches). Bryan Albani at the All-Ohio’s turned in another strong performance, as he placed seventh overall in the 55-meter hurdles, crossing the line in a quick time of 8.19 seconds. Also scoring was Eric Dyer, who came in seventh-place in the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 5.25 inches.
In the women’s competition at the All-Ohio Championships, Wooster had one individual score points, as Kayla Miller placed seventh in the triple jump (34 feet, 5.5 inches).
On Friday night in Gambier, the Scot women were by led by strong showings from Suzanne Capehart, Ali Drushal, and Elizabeth Wardrop. Capehart was victorious in the 5000-meter run, clocking a time of 19:21.11, while Drushal and Wardrop placed third in the pole vault (9 feet 0.25 inches) and long jump (14 feet, 4 inches), respectively.
Averell Gatton and Matt Jensen paced the Scot men at Kenyon in their respective events. Gatton finished second in the high jump (6 feet, 0.5 inches), while Jensen also came in runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles (8.29). Gatton also contributed a fourth-place performance in the triple jump (40 feet, 11.75 inches). |
