Head Coach Lori Schimmel
Ninth-year head coach Lori Schimmel has quickly built The College of Wooster softball program from scratch into a regular contender in the North Coast Athletic Conference. After going 6-17 during 2000 – the school’s first-year of varsity competition since 1986 – the team has posted three top-three finishes in the NCAC while playing close to .500 ball (116-145-2), all of which gives Schimmel 122 career wins. Prior to being named Wooster’s head coach in August of 1999, Schimmel had spent one year leading the school’s club softball team. She came to Ohio from Pittsburgh, Pa., where she had worked as a softball and basketball coach at Vincentian Academy for four years, including two as the head softball coach. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Schimmel earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Bethany in 1994, and was inducted into that school's Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2007. |
