For the third straight season, junior Kim Skully (Brooklyn Heights, Ohio / Cuyahoga Heights) has been honored for her hard work on the softball diamond.  For her efforts during the 2008 campaign, her season culminated with second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as announced by league officials on Tuesday, May 13.

Skully, who was a second-team selection in 2006 and honorable mention recipient a season ago, wasn’t the only Scot earning postseason honors as two of her teammates got the nod. Earning honorable mention accolades were seniors Katelynn Caywood (Amherst, Ohio / Firelands) and Kate Kiley (Dedham, Mass. / Noble and Greenough School).

Continuing to move up the Wooster all-time hitting charts, Skully continued to be one of the league’s most dangerous hitters this spring. She saw action in 37 contests, starting 36 as an outfielder, and led Wooster in batting average (.389), hits (42), doubles (8), home runs (3), RBI (21), total bases (59), slugging percentage (.546), on-base percentage (.455), and was second in runs scored (21) and stolen bases (7). In NCAC play, Skully accumulated a .356 batting average (16-for-45) with 11 runs scored, one home run, eight RBI, and a .467 slugging percentage.

Caywood, a first-time all-conference selection, started all 38 games at first base for Wooster this season and came on strong during league competition, compiling a .310 batting average over 14 games (13-for-42), the third-highest mark on the team. Overall on the year, she hit at a .237 clip (28-for-118) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 18 RBI, and a .347 slugging percentage.

Kiley picked up her first all-conference honor after starting 31 of 35 games as an outfielder. She batted .333 on the season (33-for-99) with 22 runs scored, five RBI, 12 walks, and a school-record 16 stolen bases. Kiley swiped seven bases in NCAC play to go with a .302 batting average (13-for-43) and 12 runs scored.

As a team, Wooster finished just under .500 (17-21) and in seventh-place in the conference (5-9).
