Scot Softball Gets Swept By Allegheny
Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score
In a doubleheader that had been scheduled for April 2, Allegheny
showed why it has won the last two North Coast Athletic Conference
championships, as the Gators dominated Wooster 10-0 and 4-0 in NCAC
softball action this afternoon (April 12) at Galpin Park.
Allegheny "run-ruled" the Scots in the opener by scoring five runs
in the second, two in the third, and three in the sixth, while Gator
pitcher Jannell Bissell held Wooster to three hits. Junior Kate Joynt
belted a double, while sophomore Kerri Horst and freshman Abby Petrullo
each singled off Bissell. On the mound for the Scots, freshman Anika Lehman
took the loss.
Wooster freshman pitcher Serena Sword kept the Scots in game two by
holding Allegheny to one run in the first inning and three in the fourth,
however, the Gators' Mandy Morgan limited Wooster's offense to three hits.
Sophomore Megan Hogue and seniors Jill Miller and Chris Wasiluk each went
1-for-3 in the nightcap, while Sword went the distance, giving up eight
hits and a walk.
The Scots, who fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference, will
try to get back on track tomorrow when they visit Wittenberg for a
doubleheader with game-time, starting at 3:30 p.m.
