The College of Wooster softball team was swept on the road today (April 1) by Hiram 7-5 and 10-0 in its first two North Coast Athletic Conference games of the season. Defense was the difference, as the Scots, who saw their overall record drop to 2-6, made nine errors, while the Lady Terriers booted just one ball.

Wooster led 4-2 in the opener, but watched Hiram claw back and score four runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win. Freshman Serena Sword was credited with the loss on the mound after giving up 10 hits and walking one Lady Terrier.

Offensively, sophomore Kady Krivos made up for her two errors at third base by going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Also, freshman Abby Petrullo had a double and drove in two runs, while senior Chris Wasiluk was 1-for-2 from the plate and reached first on two hit-by-pitches as well.

Game two was dominated by Hiram, as the Lady Terriers "run-ruled" Wooster in the fifth inning. The lone highlight for the Scots was junior catcher Kate Joynt's performance, as she went 2-for-2. Freshman Anika Lehman took the loss on the mound.

The Scots will inaugurate Galpin Park tomorrow (April 2) with their first home game since 1986. Wooster will host two-time NCAC defending-champion Allegheny in a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
