Leading the Wooster men was senior Wes Bennett, who took first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.86 as well as the 100 freestyle. In the 100 butterfly, freshman Justin Whitmire won in a time of 56.38, while rounding out the first-place finishers was classmate Jim Gilchrist in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.53.
On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team consisting of junior Jessica Ritchie, sophomore Jenny Bayuk, sophomore Erin Popelka, and freshman Kayla Heising, placed first with a time of 1:49.72, setting both the pool and school records, and bettering their national cut time. Individually, Ritchie won the 100 freestyle with a national qualifying time and pool record of 53.38, while Popelka placed first in the 100 butterfly and qualified for the NCAA Championships in that event with a time of 1:00.1.
"This was an important meet for the men, as they all contributed to this win," commented Wooster head coach Keith Beckett. "I'm very proud of both teams."
The Scot women boosted its record to 3-0, while the men improved to 2-1, while John Carroll's women drop to 3-4 and the men are now 3-3.
Up next for Wooster will be the Akron/Wooster Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron from Dec. 1-3.
