The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams kicked off the second half of their dual meet season in strong fashion this weekend (Jan. 13-14) with a pair of sweeps over North Coast Athletic Conference foes. The Fighting Scot men (6-1, 3-0 NCAC) cruised to 120-96 and 136-60 victories over Hiram College and Ohio Wesleyan University, respectively, while the women (4-3, 2-1 NCAC) also won against the same opponents by scores of 130-104 and 147-90, respectively.

Junior Dan Noble paced the Wooster men with three individual victories over the two meets. On Friday, he easily won the 800 freestyle in a time of 9:34.58, outdistancing teammate Joe Witkowski by almost 27 seconds. Noble followed up against the Bishops with two more first-place finishes, first in the 200 individual medley (2:04.02) and later in the 100 backstroke (1:00.62).

Matt Dominski, Dustin Klein, Kyle Oaks, and Ted Polley each added two victories competing in their respective specialties over the weekend. Dominski won both the 100 (55.66) and 200 (2:38.38) fly, Klein took honors on the 1-meter on both days, Oaks was top finisher in the 50 (22.90) and 100 (52.30) free, and Polley logged wins in the 400 (4:42.39) and 1000 (11:05.43) freestyles.

Also of note, sophomore Mateo Chinchilla and freshman John Cushing won the 200 IM (2:28.78) and 50 freestyle (26.56) respectively, on Friday, while Witkowski touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle (5:29.12) on Saturday.

Wooster senior Kim Chambers continued her impressive season by accumulating four more victories. On Friday, she raced to wins in the 100 (1:01.25) and 800 (9:30.11) freestyles, setting a pool record in the latter, and for an encore on Saturday, she added victories in the 200 free (1:59.68) and the 100 fly (1:01.82). Noteworthy, Chambers remains perfect so far on the year, winning each of the 18 races she has entered as an individual.

Freshmen Lindsey Dorko and Meggie Edwards each added a pair of wins to their resumes against Ohio Wesleyan. Dorko swam the top times in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.84) and the 200 individual medley (2:21.60), while Edwards raced to first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles in times of 25.49 and 55.93, respectively.

Other winners for the women included Amanda Bailey in the 400 freestyle (4:49.39) and diver Julie Pinzur on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards on Friday, and Patti Ross in the 100 backstroke (1:03.36) and Shannon McIntyre on the 3-meter (158.35) in action on Saturday.

Wooster continues its dual meet season next weekend when the Scots travel to Grove City College on Saturday, Jan. 21, for a 1 p.m. meet.
