Scots Swept for First Time This Season at Westminster
The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams were each handed losses in dual meet action at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., on Saturday afternoon as the men suffered their first setback of the season, losing 117.5-81.5 to fall to 4-1, while the Scot women dropped to 2-3 this season with a 118-85 loss. The Titans were dominant in their home pool, winning all but six events during the course of the day. Wooster’s lone individual wins came from senior Kim Chambers, who won the 200 freestyle (1:58.40), 100 butterfly (1:01.44), and 500 freestyle (5:23.39), and sophomore Mateo Chinchilla, who touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.60). The Scots also won both 200 freestyle relay races as Denise Koessler, Amanda Bailey, Laura McHugh, and Milena Mauric combed for a time of 1:47.73 for the women, while on the men’s side Kyle Oaks, Andrew Rudawsky, John Cushing, and Dan Noble finished in 1:32.03. Notable runner-up showings included Bailey in the 1000 freestyle (11:24.84), Andrew Olsen in the 1000 freestyle (10:31.54), Molly Bittner in the 50 (26.04) and 100 freestyles (57.03), Matt Dominski in the 100 butterfly (56.97), Joe Witkowski in the 500 freestyle (5:21.14), and Lindsay Dorko in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.34). Next up for Wooster is the Wooster Invitational on December 1-3. Eleven teams are invited to this year’s event, including Ashland University, Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Lycoming College, Oberlin College, Ohio Northern University, Salem International University, Saint Vincent (Pa.) College, Westminster (Pa.) College, California University of Pennsylvania, and West Virginia Wesleyan University. |
