Wooster Swim Teams Easily Handle John Carroll

The College of Wooster swimming teams cruised past northern Ohio regional
foe John Carroll University Saturday afternoon in Timken Natatorium. The
Fighting Scot men kept their dual-meet record unblemished at 4-0 with
a 138-91 victory over the Blue Streaks, while the Scot women improved
to 3-1 overall after posting a 145-89 victory.
In men’s action, the Fighting Scots won the 400 medley relay as
well as seven individual events. Logan LaBerge led the way, posting
victories in both the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.84) and the 200 yard backstroke.
Also taking first-place honors were Joe Witkowski in the 1000 freestyle
(11:10.07), Daniel Noble in the 50 freestyle (23.17), Matteo
Chinchilla in the 400 IM (4:54.24) and Eric Babbitt in the
100 freestyle (50.14). The Scots also swept the first three spots in the
500 freestyle, with Ryan Radke hitting first with a time of 5:16.01.
Wooster’s women’s squad was equally as dominant, also winning
the 400 medley relay and seven of nine individual events. Amanda Bailey
and Alice Case were both double-winners, with Bailey hitting first
in the 400 IM (4:59.91) and 500 freestyle (5:33.11) and Case in the 50
freestyle (25.57) and 100 freestyle (55.95). Other Scots triumphing in
their respective events were Kristine Mann in the 1000 freestyle
(11:34.15), Elaine Coladarci in the 200 butterfly (2:24.57) and
Meggie Edwards in the 200 backstroke (2:17.68). In addition, Scot
diver Julie Pinzur won both the one meter and three meter diving
competitions, with scores of 192.60 and 204.60, respectively.
Wooster will be back in action next Saturday, November 18 when it travels
to Canton, Ohio to take on NCAC foe Denison University, as well as non-conference
opponents Westminster (Pa.) College and Calvin College. Meet time is scheduled
to begin at 1 p.m.
