Scot Women Tie for Third, Men Fifth at NCAC Swimming and Diving Relays
The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams kicked off their seasons on Saturday, with the women tying for third-place and the men taking fifth at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays. Overall, the Wooster women scored 130 points to tie Denison University in the eight-team field, while Kenyon College won (158), and the Scot men ended up with 96 tallies to finish right in the middle of their nine-team field. Denison took home top honors in the men’s division (178). Wooster’s top finish was fourth-place in the women’s 200 breaststroke relay, in which Syd Kelly, Lindsey Dorko, Allie Kibler-Campbell, and Meggie Edwards turned in a time of 2:12.98. Kelly and Edwards were joined by Alice Case and Kate Kosenick in the 200 medley, with the group producing a fifth-place showing (1:53.21). Case and Kelly were part of another fifth-place performance, this time with Kristine Mann and Molly Bittner in the 200 butterfly (1:53.82), while Edwards, Bittner, Kosenick, and Case also came in fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.90). Other noteworthy swims included Edwards helping the Scots to a sixth-place effort in the 200 backstroke relay, as she teamed up with Kosenick, Mann, and Heather Moore (1:55.52), as well as an eighth-place finish courtesy of Case, Kelly, Lindsey Dorko, and Amanda Bailey in the 400 medley individual relay (4:22.09). Top-eight performances on the men’s side for Wooster included sixth-place in the 200 butterfly, as Matt Dominski, Brandon DuGar, Dan Noble, and Eric Babbitt posted a time of 1:39.79, and eighth in the 200 freestyle relay, which was made up of Dominski, John Cushing, Kyle Oaks, and Babbitt (1:31.28). The Scots season begins in earnest Oct. 27-28, when they travel to Mt. Union College for a dual on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and then host rival Wittenberg University Saturday at 1 p.m. |
