The North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball coaches expect The College of Wooster to finish in the same position as it has the last two years — fifth-place — announced the league office Monday after it tabulated votes from the eight (of nine) coaches who participated.

Wooster, which went 17-18 overall last fall, including 4-4 in the conference, picked up 44 points in the preseason poll, while seven-time defending champ Wittenberg University was the unanimous favorite, earning all eight first-place votes and 72 points.

Hiram College, the 2003 NCAC Tournament runner-up, was picked second (57), followed closely by Denison University (53), Allegheny College (50), and the Scots.

Completing the poll were Kenyon College (30), Ohio Wesleyan University (27), Oberlin College (14), and Earlham College (13) in the 6-7-8-9 slots, respectively.

The Scots will begin their fifth season under head coach Terri Mason next weekend (Sept. 3-4) at the River City Tournament, hosted by Marietta College. It will be an eight-team field.
