Following a rare one-match week, The College of Wooster enters a pivotal stretch of the season this week with three North Coast Athletic Conference matches over a five-day period. It starts Tuesday, Oct. 2, when Ohio Wesleyan University (7-10, 1-3 NCAC) visits Timken Gymnasium at 7 p.m., for the first of the teams’ season series. On Friday night, Oct. 5, the Fighting Scots will be on the road, facing second-place Hiram College (16-3, 5-1 NCAC), which was nationally ranked earlier this fall. Approximately three weeks ago, Wooster took a game off then-No. 23 Hiram before succumbing to the Terriers 28-30, 30-26, 30-26, 30-22. First serve is again set for 7 p.m. Wooster will be right back in action Saturday, Oct. 6, hosting Denison University (8-6, 2-2 NCAC) at 11 a.m., in the squads’ first match-up of the 2007 campaign. The Scots will also take on Heidelberg College (17-4) that day in Timken Gym, with match time slated for 3 p.m.

Last Week: Wooster triumphed in its lone match, improving to 7-11 overall and 3-2 in the league standings.

On Sept. 26, a balanced offensive attack keyed the Scots’ 30-18, 30-17, 23-30, 30-21 victory at conference foe Oberlin College. Four Wooster players finished in double figures for kills, led by seniors Erin Wright (Akron, Ohio / Walsh Jesuit) and Carolyn Ciriegio (Covington, Ohio / Covington). They slammed down 15 kills apiece. Sophomore KateLynn Riley (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) contributed 12 kills, while junior Megan Earle (Middleburg Hts., Ohio / Midpark) added 11 and 15 digs. Junior Abbie Casey (Prospect, Ohio / Marion Pleasant) was the setter, chalking up 45 assists. On defense, junior libero Ali Drushal (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes) totaled 38 digs and Wright posted a squad-high five blocks (one solo, four assists).
