Volleyball Drops Pair of NCAC Matches
The College of Wooster volleyball team entered Saturday's action
(Sept. 23) with an opportunity to solidify its resurgence under new head
coach Terri Mason.
But unfortunately for the Scots, they returned home from Meadville,
Pa., with a pair of league losses to Ohio Wesleyan (3-1) and host Allegheny
(3-0), dropping their overall record to 6-7 and their North Coast Athletic
Conference mark to 1-2.
In Wooster's first match of the day, the Battling Bishops took
advantage of 13 service errors by the Scots and won 15-13, 15-12, 7-15, and
15-9. Wooster squandered leads of 9-3 and 7-0 in games one and two,
respectively, but the Scots returned the favor in game three when the
Bishops grabbed a 7-5 lead, followed by Wooster reeling off 10 straight
points. Game four was close until Ohio Wesleyan went on a 6-2 run at 9-7 to
clinch the match.
The Gators took control early in the Scots' second match of the
afternoon and went on to win 15-5, 15-4, 15-10.
Wooster will look to get back on the winning track this week, as it
opens a five-game homestand with Heidelberg on Tuesday (Sept. 26) at 7 p.m.
