Volleyball Loses to Malone 3-1
In its second home match of the year on Monday evening (Sept. 18),
The College of Wooster lost a tightly-contested four-game battle to Malone
College in non-conference volleyball action.
With the loss, the Scots drop to .500 at 5-5, while Malone ups its
overall mark to 5-7.
The Lady Pioneers got off to a quick start, jumping out to an 8-0
lead and eventually winning game one 15-8, but Wooster came back and evened
the match with a 15-11 victory in game two. Malone regained control of the
match in game three, taking a 10-0 lead en route to a 15-9 win.
Game four saw the Scots fall behind 12-4, but Wooster made a valiant
comeback and evened the match at 14 before the Lady Pioneers won the final
two points and the match.
Individually for the Scots, sophomore Erin Donnell had a big outing
with 14 kills, while junior Jen Petkovsek contributed 12 block solos and
nine block assists. Also, sophomore Beth Moore posted a 17-assist night,
followed by junior Holli Camelio who had 10 assists.
Next up, Wooster opens North Coast Athletic Conference play with a
contest at Kenyon College slated for Wednesday (Sept. 20) at 7 p.m.
