College of Wooster junior Carly Loehrke (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Mattawan) was tabbed first-team All-North Coast Athletic Coast Conference, becoming the first Fighting Scot women’s basketball player to be named one of the top-five in the leauge since 1997-98, as announced today after voting by the league’s head coaches. Loehrke, Wooster’s lone representative on the all-conference team, picks up her second consecutive All-NCAC honor after being selected second-team last season.

She becomes the 10th Wooster player to be named to the NCAC’s top team overall and the first since Katie Montague, the school’s all-time leading scorer (1610 points), did it in back-to-back years (1997-98).

The Scots’ up-and-down season had little effect on the 6’0” post player, as she started all 26 games and finished as the team’s leader in nearly every single statistical category. She averaged 13.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, placing her fourth in the NCAC statistics in both categories, and was Wooster’s workhorse, playing an average of 32.7 minutes. Remarkably, Loehrke became the first Scot to lead the team in the three major statistical categories (points, rebounds, assists), as she tied for the team-lead with an average of 2.0 assists per game.

She also finished top-10 in the league in field goal percentage (2nd, .523), free throw percentage (2nd, .843), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th, 1.04), steals (8th, 1.81 spg), and blocked shots (5th, 1.31 bpg). Loehrke recorded nine double-doubles on the year and led Wooster in scoring 21 times and rebounding 17. Additionally, she posted Scot individual game-highs in points (21), rebounds (14), assists (7), and blocked shots (4, twice).

For her career, Loehrke is just a shade under 1000 points (969) and 600 rebounds (596), ranking her seventh on the school’s all-time list in both. She is Wooster’s all-time leader in field goal percentage (.530) and ranks among the top-six in rebounding average (6th, 7.7), free throws made (5th, 215), and free throw percentage (3rd, .779).

A star in the classroom as well, Loehrke was named to the Academic All-District Third Team earlier this season. Majoring in communication sciences and disorders, she has made the Dean’s List four times and regularly volunteers in the community, most recently taking part in Scots In Service and Ohio Reads.

Wooster closed out the year 7-19 overall and tied for sixth in the NCAC standings (4-12). The Scots bowed out in the first round of the conference tournament to eventual champion Denison University 64-51.
