Scot Women Drop 61-56 Decision to Mount St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, Ohio - After coming back from a 17-point second-half
deficit to win on Friday, The College of Wooster women's basketball team
reversed rolls today, seeing a 36-27 halftime lead against the hosts of the
College of Mount St. Joseph Tournament turn into a 61-56 loss in the
championship game of the event.
The deciding factor on Saturday was a cold shooting second half for
Wooster, as the Scots only hit 36.0 percent (9-of-25) of their shots from
the field after canning 58.3 percent (14-of-24) of their field goal
attempts in the first 20 minutes.
Mount St. Joseph, on the other hand, connected on 56.5 percent
(13-of-23) of its shots during the second half, as compared to 41.9 percent
(13-of-31) in the opening stanza.
Statistically, sophomore forward Nara DeJesus (Geneva, Ohio /
Geneva) posted a double-double in leading Wooster in both scoring and
rebounding with 14 points and 11 boards. Stephanie Woodruff (Toledo, Ohio /
Sylvania Northview), a junior guard, was next in the scoring column with 12
tallies, while everyone else was held to six points or less.
For the Lions, Shauna Lucas led the way with 20 points on 8-of-13
shooting from the field. Other major contributors for the hosts included
Virginia Grace, who had 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting and six rebounds, and
Shauna Bemmes, who registered 11 points and four assists.
The Scots, who are now 1-1 on the year, don't play until Wednesday,
Nov. 29, when they travel to Delaware, Ohio, for a match-up against Ohio
Wesleyan University, the defending regular season champions in the North
Coast Athletic Conference.
