Women's Lax Beats Allegheny By Exact Same Score
Box Score
The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team defeated visiting
Allegheny College 17-3 on Tuesday (April 3), marking the same exact outcome
of last season's meeting between the two teams.
On April 5, 2000, at Cindy Barr Memorial Field, Wooster outgunned
Allegheny 17-3, thanks to a balanced scoring attack and some solid
goaltending by Kim Christensen, and used a similar formula to execute the
14-point win this time around.
Seven different Scots scored multiple goals, as opposed to five
last year, while Christensen produced nine saves in 2001, compared to 13
stops in the previous contest.
On Tuesday, Wooster was led by sophomore Beth Hemminger and senior
Katelyn Connolly, who registered six- and five-point games, respectively.
Hemminger had two goals and four assists, while Connolly scored twice,
including one just 13 seconds into the game, and added three assists.
Freshman Lizzie Newton had a game-best three goals for the Scots,
while adding two scores apiece were senior Jessica Critchlow, junior Miriam
Esber, sophomore Megan Kennedy, and freshman Molly Spirer.
K.C. Hartwig scored twice for the Gators and Devin McCue accounted
for the other tally, while their goalie - Stephany Hart - finished the day
with 12 saves after facing an assault of 38 Wooster shots.
The Scots will put their three-game winning streak on the line
against the University of Redlands - a school from California - on
Thursday, April 5. Gametime at Cindy Barr Memorial Field is at 4:30 p.m.
