The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team set a school record for margin of victory in its 24-1 victory over Medaille Saturday (March 31) afternoon at Cindy Barr Field in Wooster.

The Scots, who won their second-straight game to improve to 2-3 on the season, broke the previous scoring margin record of 22 goals, which was just set last season in a 23-1 victory over Earlham.

Twenty different Wooster players saw action and 14 different players scored at least one goal on Saturday, as the Scots completely dominated the undermanned Mavericks. Wooster led 16-1 at halftime and outshot Medaille 42-3 for the game.

Leading the scoring barrage for the Scots was sophomore Beth Hemminger, who finished with two goals and three assists, giving her nine goals and 12 assists in just five games this season. Collecting three goals each were freshmen Rachel Stevens and Lizzie Newton. For Stevens, she ran her team-best goal total to 13, while Newton scored her first three career goals.

Also finishing with three points were sophomore Megan Kennedy and freshman Katie McCoy, who each had two goals and one assist, and junior Courtney Peter, who had one goal and two assists.

Collecting the lone goal for Medaille was Jessica Lyons, who put one past Wooster junior goalie Kim Christensen in the first half. Christensen was forced to make only two saves in the game.

The Scots return to action on Wednesday, April 3, when they host Allegheny in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.
