Women's Soccer Wins Sixth Consecutive Match

The College of Wooster women's soccer team won its sixth straight match with a convincing 3-1 victory over Thomas More at Carl Dale Memorial Field in Wooster yesterday afternoon.

Sophomore Sara Austin scored her third and fourth goals of the season in the first 26 minutes of the match to give the Scots a quick 2-0 advantage. Her first goal came off a corner kick from classmate Stephanie Hulke in the 15th minute of the match. Eleven minutes later, Austin scored in heavy traffic in front of the goal off a pass from junior midfielder Amber Lewis.

Hulke added to the Wooster lead with 10:28 remaining in the first stanza when she scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season from the 18-yard marker off a pass from freshman Megan Klene. Despite allowing a goal in the second half, the Scots cruised to the 3-1 victory as they outshot Thomas More 14-2.

Wooster, which was ranked 10th in the Great Lakes region in the most recent poll by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, will host Mount Union on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 4:30 p.m.
