Women's Soccer Cruises to Eighth Straight Victory

Beth Hemminger had a goal and an assist against Walsh.
The College of Wooster women's soccer team, which is ranked seventh in the Great Lakes region, won its eighth consecutive match with a 4-0 decisive victory over Walsh yesterday afternoon in Wooster.

The Fighting Scots dominated from the outset, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match. Eight minutes into the match, sophomore Sara Austin began the scoring with her fifth goal of the year after she received a pass from classmate Stephanie Hulke in some heavy traffic in front of the net. Hulke assisted on a goal by freshman Beth Hemminger 10 minutes later, giving the Scots a 2-0 advantage. Moments later, Wooster made it a 3-0 game when freshman Megan Klene scored off a beautiful crossing pass from Hemminger.

Less than three minutes into the second stanza, Hulke put any hopes of Cavalier comeback away when she scored from point-blank range off a pass from freshman midfielder Jessica Bacon. The Scots cruised from that point, holding Walsh to zero shots-on-goal in the second half.

Wooster freshman goalkeeper Nicole Roman made one save in 68 minutes of action en route to her sixth victory of the year, while freshman keeper Suzanne Lucas did not even have to face a shot in the final 28 minutes.
