Since losing two of its first three matches to open the season, The College of Wooster women's soccer team has reeled off five wins in a row, including Thursday's (Sept. 21) 4-0 victory over Baldwin-Wallace College in non-conference action at Lenau Park in Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
Sophomore Beth Hemminger and senior Lealynd Pazderak provided the majority of the offense, while the defense led by sophomore goalie Adrienne Walts allowed the Yellow Jackets to get off just three shots en route to Wooster's fourth consecutive shutout.
After zero scoring in the first 26 minutes of the match, Hemminger and Pazderak combined to score three goals during a stretch of 5:43. Hemminger tallied the first two with an assist from Pazderak on the first and an assist by sophomore Nicole DeSantis on the second. Pazderak scored the next goal off a pass from sophomore Lindsay Zella to give the Scots' a commanding 3-0 lead.
Junior Stephanie Hulke added an unassisted goal midway through the second half to cap the scoring, while Walts only needed to secure one save to record her second shutout of the year.
Wooster will look to continue its winning streak on Saturday evening (Sept. 23) when it faces North Coast Athletic Conference foe Denison, which is ranked ninth in the most recent NSCAA Division III poll, in Granville, Ohio, starting at 7 p.m.
