Women's Soccer Wins NCAC Opener

A single goal by sophomore Beth Hemminger was all the offense The College of Wooster women's soccer team needed to return home with a victory from its North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Saturday (Sept. 16), as the Scots topped Earlham 1-0 in Richmond, Ind.

Wooster, which hadn't beaten the Quakers since 1996, got on the scoreboard in the match's 20th minute. Hemminger scored off a pass from sophomore Jessica Bacon.

The Scot defense made the lead stand-up, allowing Earlham to get off just six shots on the day.

Wooster, which has now won four straight after starting the year 1-2, will next play a non-league contest against Baldwin-Wallace in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, on Thursday (Sept. 21) at 4:30 p.m.
