Scots Cruise Past B-W in Women's Soccer
Box Score
The College of Wooster women's soccer team improved to 4-1-0
overall with a dominating 3-1 victory over visiting Baldwin-Wallace College
on Monday (Sept. 10).
Despite only winning by two, Wooster was never threatened, as it
staked out to a 3-0 advantage in the first half and ended up outshooting
Baldwin-Wallace 30-3.
After 14 minutes of scoreless play, the Scots scored two goals just
1:54 apart to take a commanding lead. First, junior Beth Hemminger notched
her second goal of the season, only having to tap the ball into the net
after a fabulous feed from the right side by senior Liz Martin. Wooster
benefited from a Yellow Jackets' own goal a short time later for the second
goal.
The Scots added their third and what turned out to be their final
score with 6:04 remaining in the opening half. Freshman Christine
VanderWyden received a centering pass and then placed the ball into the
back of the net for her first collegiate goal. She was assisted on the play
by freshman Meaghin Kennedy and junior Lindsey Zella.
The hosts allowed a Baldwin-Wallace score 6:12 into the second
stanza, but that was just one of two shots on goal all day.
Wooster will wrap up its season-opening six-match non-conference
homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 12), when it takes on Penn State Erie - The
Behrend College at 4:30 p.m.
