Riding the wave of a 6-2-0 non-conference start, including four wins in the last five matches, The College of Wooster women's soccer team continued its excellent play by blanking visiting Earlham College 5-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
The offensive spark was once again provided by Woosterçs "Big Three" seniors Stephanie Hulke and Liz Martin, along with junior Beth Hemminger. They combined to score four of the Scotsç five goals against Earlham and now have 16 of their 22 tallies this season.
Hulke got the scoring started when she found the back of the net after receiving a direct kick from junior Nicole DeSantis at the 32:58 mark of the first half. Martin followed just over 12 minutes later when she scored with an assist from junior Jessica Bacon.
Martin tallied her second goal of the game early in the second half, when she took a pass from senior Sara Austin and beat goalie Kristin Sutcliffe to give Wooster a 3-0 lead. Hemminger collected her fifth goal of the season with an assist off the foot of freshman Sarah BonDurant at the 26:20 mark, while sophomore Gina Martino capped the scoring with her first career goal.
Statistically, the Scots dominated, outshooting the Quakers 23-3 while not allowing them a single corner kick.
